Proficiency
Proficiency adds your proficiency bonus to the relevant weapon attacks, skills, or saving throws.
Two characters with the same ability score may still have different attack or skill bonuses. Longsword proficiency, for example, adds proficiency to longsword attack rolls.
The bonus increases with total character level. Weapon proficiency does not normally add that bonus to weapon damage.
